Esso fuel docks close their doors

As of November 1, 2007 the Esso marine fuel stations have closed. We have been informed that some of the stations are trying to purchase the facilities from Esso. As of November 7, 2007 the following stations are closed:

Wampler Marine(Steveston)
Ridor Fuels (Port Hardy)
Brechin Point Marina (Nanaimo)
Keefe Marine Services(False Creek)
Fishermans Cove

The following stations will remain open:

Wampler Marine (Prince Rupert)
Seaway Marine (Campbell River)

As part of the efforts to prepare EPIRB users for the end of the 121.5 MHz frequency processing in 2009, the FCC has prohibited the use of 121.5 MHz EPIRBs as of January 1, 2007.

CBP Announces 2007 Pleasure Boating Clearance Procedures for Pacific Northwest

The Pacific Northwest is one of the busiest international boating areas in the United States. Since January 2006, private boaters have been required to report to specified ports of entry for inspection if they are not currently enrolled in an Alternative Inspection Systems Program that would allow arrival reporting by phone. Only boaters participating in the I-68 or NEXUS/SENTRI programs are allowed to report their arrivals by phone.

NEXUS has expanded to all Canadian waterways

Sarnia, Ontario, April 30, 2007 -- Patricia Davidson, Member of Parliament for Sarnia-Lambton, on behalf of the Minister of Public Safety, the Honourable Stockwell Day, announced today that the NEXUS program has expanded to all Canadian waterways. This will allow eligible Canadian recreational boaters to expedite their border clearance between Canada and the United States.

“Canada’s New Government is delivering on its commitment to make our borders smarter and more secure for Canadians,” said Minister Day. “As of today, Canadian recreational boaters who are part of the NEXUS program will be able to take advantage of this great program.”
